Life before weight loss surgery
Life before weight loss just felt difficult, though, strangely, I didn’t even realise it at the time. Yo-yo dieting and losing 2 or 3 stone each time always felt great, but I struggled to keep the weight off. I’d have some quick wins, start to feel good, and then suddenly slip back into old habits.
My most successful attempt was with Saxenda, I lost 4 stone and felt on top of the world. But once I came off it, I gained all the weight back, plus another 3 stone over the next two years. I was the biggest I had even been at 21.7st
I’ve always struggled with sweet foods. I used to binge on sweets and cakes, but my biggest addiction was sugary drinks especially Red Bull and Coke. I was drinking around 10 cans of Coke and 5 or 6 energy drinks a day.
Life became hard walking, being outdoors, and enjoying my favourite sport, horse riding, were all a struggle. I wanted to lose weight because I couldn’t do what I loved anymore, and they don’t even make riding clothes in a size 24. It was time I did something about it. I saw the advert for Tonic so started to do my research and the care from the office team put me at ease. I am now riding 2/3 times a week and the happiest I have been in 25 years

I looked into having surgery years ago, but it always seems unreachable and unaffordable. This time finding Tonic, the website, the social media, the content creators online and the recommendations just instantly made me feel this is the company I want to explore with.
What made my mind up was the first phone call with the team, no question was too big or small and best of all there was no pressure from them to have the operation. Really relaxed conversations and follow up email with even more information. Tonic took care of me from that first contact.
What I was most excited about was having a call with Mr Richardson my surgeon, what a call that was. He put my mind at ease, he talked me through different options and then said for someone like me this will change my life, those words stay with me every day.
It has, it will continue to change my life. I remember him saying ‘a sleeve is a tool that I have had to work with to get amazing results’ and now my 9st loss is prove of that, my only regret is I didn’t do it 10 years ago.
